I read the other review and wouldn't at all be surprised if this place closed soon. The wait staff completely lacked fun and energy and the service was terrible and slow. The food was not very good either. Our soups were cold, salads drenched in dressing, getting bread was like pulling teeth and all the way around it was a really disappointing experience. My poor mother-in-law tried to take the family out for a special dinner and it was just a terrible experience and I know she felt bad that we didn't go somewhere else. I would pass on this one.

Excellent french cuisine, and we spoke with both the owners at length. Chef Lange is amazingly creative, and we had a complementary trio of small appetizers which were quite tasty. The french onion soup was the best I've ever tasted, as was the Maryland crab cakes (not the first French dish that comes to mind, but the chef once worked at the Hay-Adams hotel in DC). His desserts are unbelievable also, and I had the key lime pie, one of my favorites, which was superb. I would discount the rumors that it is closing since they've been here for several years. You can't go wrong eating here, in my opinion (as well as that of my wife and our two friends who accompanied us).

I made a reservation for five today to celebrate Mother's day brunch with my friends, and we were all warmly greeted with beautiful purple carnations. The waiter was funny and pleasant. I never ran out of coffee or water. We were all made to feel so special! It was EXCELLENT FOOD! I look forward to returning here soon. Reservations are a must. What a great place to dine for a special occasion! It was classy yet welcoming!:-)

Our second visit, first was Aug 2012. Fav place of friends who we were visiting. Food, service and ambience are superb. Great house cab, too. Foie de veau (real calves' liver), crab cakes, roast duck, ONION SOUP! Everything was great and it was just as good on our previous trip.

The seafood medley was excellent! None of my companions have ever had anything but the best of deliciously french cooked cuisine. Price for this quality food was very reasonable

Beau and I enjoyed two dinners, back to back, here this weekend. Refreshingly, dining area easily allows a conversation. Service is prompt but does not rush. Clam chowder is worth a return visit and is above par of even coastal city restaurants. Large portion of frogs legs and the provençal dish was very good. The carb cakes were perfectly portioned, with plenty of crab. Very well priced and value. (Check out the community library in the restroom.) Thank you for the southern Arizona hospitality.

Was very disappointed in our meal. Had eaten there at least 5 times before, and ordered the Chesapeake Crab cakes. They had way too much sauce on it and, the crab cakes had way too much filler...My mother ordered the calves liver and asked it to be a little more than medium and it came out so hard, that she even had a hard time cutting it. For the money, it was not up to par. The odor walking into the entrance was awful, and we were set by the window, and there was an odor there too...the waitress, seemed as if she really did not want to be there. Will not be going again.

I haven't been on here for awhile, but I thought this was a bad enough experience to come on here and tell everyone about it. The first time I went here a few weeks ago they were pretty good. My food was prepared properly and the service was passable. That was a Monday and they were slow. Today it is Wednesday and it's a whole new ball game. First of all, we requested a table by the window and we were told that they were all reserved. I would have believed that if the table we wanted didn't sit there empty the entire time we were there. Second, the iced tea I ordered was so small it looked like a child's glass, and refills were few and far between. I even had to ask for a refill the first time. I heard someone else ask for a bigger glass and they were refused. Third.....the food. I ordered the special, which was a steak and it was supposed to be medium-rare. It was rare and close to raw. However, I had to eat it, because Bret, the waiter did not come back to ask how the food was or if we needed anything. AND my mother's Dijon Melt sandwich literally fell apart in her hands, the hot cheese burning her hands and getting all over. Forth....the service. I think that Bret is a good waiter, but he had far too many tables and not enough time to give anybody good service. However, I was disappointed that when I told him about my steak and my mom's sandwich, he did not even apologize or offer any form if compensation for our ruined meal. I do not understand how a french chef is unable to cook a steak properly or make a grilled cheese sandwich that stays together. We will not be returning anytime soon,.

Christmas Eve dinner disastrously slow. People next to us waited 2 hours for their food then got up and left in a huff when it still hadn't come. They were starving! Ours was a three hour meal and we had two kids with us! They were not even willing to make a plate of plain pasta for the kids. Service below subpar but the food was tasty. But such an epic fail I honestly have no idea how the stay in business. What a terrible, uncomfortable experience! Embarrassed for them!

This place is awesome, they have escargots! My favorite. My first time, I had crab cake. Very delicious. Second time, I had the Seafood Meadley over fettuccine. Well, I love cheese but I think it was too much over Salmon and Sea Bass. I think if the chef remove that extra cheese on top, it will become even better. Try the Key Lime Pie, it is to die for.

I heard a rumor (and, mind you, still only a rumor to my knowledge) that Lavender is closing soon. Walking into a large, nearly empty room at 6:15 on a Thursday evening made me wonder. To be fair, it was a stupefyingly hot evening in mid-July in Green Valley. Most of the snowbirds were gone for the summer. But the mustard yellow (slightly garish) walls are almost bare, except for a few French flags tacked her and there to celebrate Bastille Day the day before. And the table cloths were wrinkled. Ouch! (Stealing a star for that.) Still this is the real thing if you like real French food. Chef Frédéric Lange, a native of Champagne, began his career in Provence (known for its lavender). He is the only Maître Cuisinier (French Master Chef) in Arizona and one of about 55 in the U.S. Expect excellent sauces and artistic presentation. The menu is heavy with classics like duck and calf's liver, introduced with a lengthy unpronounceable (if you don't speak French, like moi) French name. I'm still thinking about my salmon. Although the vegetables could have been more crisp. The plates were too hot to touch when they arrived, so I assumed they sat under the light for a bit, even though there was hardly a crowd. And my husband raved about the special three-course Bastille Day special he ordered -- Vichyssoise, medallions of beef and flan for dessert. The service? Reasonably attentive. Our water glasses were kept full, but the waitress got a deer-in-the-headlights look when we mentioned it was my mother's birthday. (I suspect they might whip up something special if you call ahead about special occasions.) Would I go back? (Assuming they remain open.) I'm kind of on the fence. The place seriously lacked energy and ambiance. But. I am still thinking about that sauce.
